SJB MP Harin Fernando told Parliament yesterday that he suspected that the recent explosions were part of a plan to reduce the use of gas in the country.

Participating in the third reading state debate on Budget 2022, MP Fernando said that there was a move to reduce the demand for gas cylinders.

He claimed that by discouraging people from using gas, those who could afford it would switch to electric cookers, while others used firewood.

The MP said it would then affect the operations of Litro Gas and also reduce State expense to import gas. As a result, the MP said he suspected there was a government hand in the gas explosions.
