Sri Lanka would attract Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) over 2.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, State Minister of Investment Promotion, Dilum Amunugama said on Saturday.

The State Minister said the Finance Ministry had set a target of attracting 1 billion dollars worth of FDI in 2023.

With two weeks left in 2023, Sri Lanka had already attracted around 1.9 billion dollars, he said, noting that agreements on another four projects that would take FDI to 2.3 billion would be signed in the coming days.

The economic stability and steps taken to encourage FDI by the government were the main reasons for increased FDI, he said.
