Global GIS celebrates 11th anniversary with CSR programme
Global GIS (Pvt) Ltd, the pioneer of geospatial positioning solutions in Sri Lanka, celebrated its 11th anniversary with an extensive educational CSR programme conducted for the advanced level students at Ananda College, Colombo who are following the subject of engineering technology. The education and knowledge-sharing programme introduced the students to the subjects of surveying and geospatial solutions including levelling, chain surveying, and theodolite surveying. The objective of the programme was to develop the knowledge of the students of the practical aspects of geospatial solutions along with a hands-on session where the students were able to physically interact with state-of-the-art surveying equipment including high-tech drones and GPSs. The educational programme was conducted by the expert trainers of Global GIS (Pvt) Ltd in the presence of the teachers, and the directors and staff of Global GIS (Pvt) Ltd.
“We are pleased to have been given the opportunity to conduct this unique educational programme in view of our 11th anniversary. As the pioneers and leaders in the geospatial solutions sphere, sharing our knowledge and experience with the students was most satisfying with the students engaging with much enthusiasm,” said Nishshanka De Silva – Managing Director, Global GIS (Pvt) Ltd. Nishshanka is a professional licensed surveyor with over 13 years of experience in the surveying and geospatial solutions sphere and holds an M Sc in Geoinformatics.

Surveying and geospatial solutions have immense potential in a developing country such as Sri Lanka, especially in the construction industry, land mapping, and hydrographical surveying of the sea.
