Gastronomic adventure through flavours of South

Recently MaRadha Colombo Hotel celebrated spectacular Southern food festival on a grand scale. The numerous dishes showcased offered a glimpse into the soul of Sri Lanka’s multi faceted gastronomic landscape. This food festival with centuries old recipes from Galle, Hambantota and Matara, brought the essence of South to life, with centuries old recipes from Galle, Hambantota and Matara.

The chefs who came from the South, especially for this occasion showcased 75 different dishes, using traditional spices and methods. There were an array of tantalising and authentic dishes, from locally sourced ingredients reflecting the essence of Southern cooking at the festival.

This gastronomic journey which was held from October 24 to 27, the rich and varied flavours of Sri Lanka’s Southern regions were the highlights, ambience was breathtaking, featuring gokkala art,icreating a perfect setting to savour the vibrant tapestry of southern flavours. Each dish was a testament to the region’s culinary heritage

This culinary celebration showcased delectable dishes that included Southern salted fish jadi, boatu karawala, malu ambul thiyal, alongside a variety of other unique seafood creations. Each dish was authentic and rich in home made flavours , where the chefs meticulously grinded spices connecting the diners withthe true essence South culinary legacy

That’s not all – the audience was enchanted by lively cultural dance performances capturing the essence of warmth and hospitality of those in the south. There were many traditional dance forms such as Naga Kanya,Giri Devi, Gara Yaka and many other source of entertainment.

The highlight of the evening also featured traditional Pahata Rata folk dances and music. These captivating dance forms performed by the students of performing arts showcased vibrant rhythms, thier unique costumes created a sacred atmosphere during thier perfomances.
