Galvanised pipe case against Keheliya and two former officials of SLRC fixed for July 18
The Colombo High Court on Monday fixed July 18 as the next hearing date in the case filed against former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and two former officials of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).
The case, taken up before High Court, relates to allegations that Rambukwella and the two officials caused an unlawful loss to the government by misusing public funds belonging to SLRC in 2014.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has filed indictments against Rambukwella—who was serving as the Minister of Mass Media at the time, along with former SLRC Director General Liyanage Chandrapala, and then Chairman Wimalasena Rupasinghe. The charges allege the trio committed acts of corruption under the Bribery Act between November 25 and December 10, 2014, by authorising the purchase of 600 galvanized iron (GI) pipes worth Rs. 990,000 using SLRC funds.
The case includes four counts filed under the Bribery Act and the Penal Code. The prosecution has named 26 witnesses and listed 17 items as productions in the indictment.
