Fuel bowser topples over injuring driver, assistant

A bowser transporting diesel from Nuwara Eliya to Kappetipola and Welimada veered off the road near the Nuwara Eliya-Hakgala bend and went down a 60-foot precipice, seriously injuring the driver and his assistant, police said.
The accident occurred due to the foggy weather conditions and the lack of visibility on the road, according to the police.The ill-fated bowser was carrying 13,600 litres of diesel from the Kolonnawa Oil Terminal to Kappetipola.
Nuwara Eliya police said the driver and the assistant who were seriously injured in the mishap had been admitted to the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital.The accident occurred near the Hakgala Botanical Garden.
