Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western and Northern provinces and in Kandy and Nuwara-eliya districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Northern provinces. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other areas of the island during the evening or night and fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places.
Winds will be South-westerly in the sea areas around the island and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (40-45) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil can be fairly rough at times while the other sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
