Ex-national cricketer to launch ‘The Community’
The book, titled ‘The Community,’ written by former national cricketer Mevan Pieris, will be launched on 21st March at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, at 6 pm. Professor G L Peiris will be the Chief Guest, and Guests of Honour are, S. Skandakumar, former High Commissioner to Australia, and Rev. Marc Billimoria, Warden of S.Thomas’ College. The book is a historical account of the Mudaliyar Class Goyigama Family Combine, which some eminent previous writers have stated had evolved into a loyal collaborating group. Michael Dias, the celebrated Law Don of Cambridge, states that the precise relationship from amongst the complex family affinities that made the extended ‘Community’… defies simple definition. Very little has been written about the evolution of ‘The Community’, who its Master Spirits were, and the contributions they have made for the good of society, in general.
The writer has a Masters degree in Polymer Chemistry and a Masters in Business Administration.
