Eran demands restructuring of debt-ridden state enterprises
Samagi Jana Balavegaya MP Eran Wickremaratne yesterday (17) said 52 state enterprises had suffered staggering losses, totalling Rs 560 bn, during the period January-April of this year.
The accusation was made at a media briefing at the Opposition Leader’s Office, at Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha.
The former UNP State Minister demanded that restructuring of such loss-making state ventures couldn’t be delayed any further. Lawmaker Wickremaratne asked whether the government maintained state ventures at the expense of the national economy for the benefit of workers and their families. (SF)
