Ella Tourism Zone to be developed under a comprehensive plan – President

After meeting the Ella Businessmen’s Association on Thursday (16), President Ranil Wickremesinghe instructed officials to take immediate steps to develop the Ella tourist area according to a comprehensive plan.
The President requested the officials to prepare the relevant development plan in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Urban Development and the Ministry of Environment and submit it to him within 4 months. (Picture – Presidents Media Division)

Nominations for Local Authorities Elections will be accepted from 17th to 20th March

The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has announced that deposits from political parties and independent groups intending to contest 336 local authorities the forthcoming LA Election will be accepted from today 3rd March 2025 up to 12noon on 19th March 2025. Deposits will not be accepted on Saturdays, Sundays and Poya day which fall within this period.
Nominations will be accepted by the respective Returning Officers between 08:30 am and 04:15 pm from the 17th and will close at 1200 noon on 20th March 2025.

Train schedule on Colombo – Batticaloa line revised

The train schedule on the Colombo – Batticaloa line has been revised to avoid trains running into wild elephants which cross the track.
Accordingly,
Colombo Fort to Batticaloa:
Train number 6011 ‘Udaydevi ‘ will depart Colombo Fort at 06:05am and reach Batticaloa at 02:49 pm
Train number 6075 ‘Pulasthi’ will depart Colombo Fort at 03:15 pm and reach Batticaloa at 12:03am the following day
Train number 6079 “Meenagaya’ will depart Colombo Fort at 09:00 pm and reach Batticaloa at 08:28am the following day
Batticaloa to Colombo Fort:
Train number 6012 ‘Udayadevi’ will leave Batticaloa at 06:10 am and reach Colombo Fort at 02:53pm
Train number 6076 ‘Pulasthi’ will leave Batticaloa at 01:30 am and reach Colombo Fort at 10:10 am
Train number 6080 ‘Meenagaya’ will leave Batticaloa at 06:15 pm and reach Colombo Fort at 03:30 am the following day
Colombo Fort to Trincomalee:
Train number 7083 will leave Colombo Fort at 09:30pm and reach Trincomalee at 06:08am the following day
Tricomalee to Colombo Fort:
Train number 7084 will leave Trincomalee at 06:30pm and reach Colombo Fort at 03:19 am the following day
