The Government Medical Officers Associations (GMOA) yesterday urged the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardane to take action against an organisation, named ‘Coalition to Prevent COVID deaths,’ for allegedly undermining people’s trust in the vaccines.

GMOA Secretary, Dr. Senal Fernando said that their Ampara Branch had informed that the above-mentioned organisation is holding events, named ‘vaccine recovery clinics’, across the country. These events aim to undermine the vaccination process, he said.

“The organisation is also operating, violating the guidelines you set. We urge you to take action against this organisation immediately, using powers given to you,” he said.

Meanwhile, a representative for the ‘Coalition to Prevent COVID deaths’ claimed that they had been asking the government to include indigenous medical practices in the fight against COVID. (RK)
