Dambara Amila Thera granted bail in felony cases

The Panadura High Court has handed down indictments to Ven. Dambara Amila Thera, a senior lecturer at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the Convener of the National Movement for a Just Society and another person, suspected of committing fraud by offering to send people abroad.
Ven. Dambara Amila Thera and Janith Vellala were indicted in four separate cases filed by the Attorney General. One case has been filed against Ven. Dambara Amila Thera alone.
The accused have been indicted by the AG for felony under Section 403 of the Penal Code.
The two accused were granted personal bail of Rs. 1 million each when the four cases were taken up before Panadura High Court Judge Saman Kumara.
Attorneys-at-Law Ajith P. Perera and Roshan Dehiwala appeared for the accused and the preliminary hearing of the four cases is scheduled for 16 June 26 and July.
