Over 5,800 families were undergoing self-quarantine at their homes and in isolated areas in the Colombo District, District Secretary Pradeep Yasaratne said yesterday.

Yasaratne said that around 90 percent of those families had been provided with dry rations worth Rs 10,000 each and the government had allotted Rs 75 million for that purpose.

Besides, the government had allocated Rs. 2,100 million to provide an allowance of Rs 5,000 each to the families that have lost their livelihoods owing to quarantine curfew during the past weeks, Yasaratne said.
