COVID count slides below 600 for third successive day

The daily COVID-19 infection count remained below 600 for the third consecutive day, yesterday. On 19 October 548 cases were reported. There were 570 cases on 18 October and 578 cases on the 17th.

Schoolchildren aged 18 and 19 will be inoculated with the Pfizer vaccine countrywide from today.

President of the Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians, Professor Shaman Rajindrajith said that so far they had been vaccinating children in Colombo District and it had been a success.

“We urge people to have their children vaccinated as soon as possible. Take them to the designated schools or the MOH offices.”
