Contempt of court petition against Diana: Two SC judges recuse themselves
Two Supreme Court judges, Janak De Silva and Kumuduni Wickremasinghe, on Wednesday (26), recused themselves from hearing a contempt of court petition filed against former State Minister Diana Gamage of the SJB.
The petition, filed by the former chairman of the Weligama Urban Council Rehan Jayawickrema, has alleged that Gamage caused an affront to the dignity of the apex court by making some remarks during a press conference after her removal from Parliament.
The petition was taken up before a three-member Supreme Court bench comprising Justices Preethi Padman Surasena, Kumuduni Wickremasinghe, and Janak De Silva.The petition will be taken up on 05 August.
