Chathurya, Luca , Savini, Oneli reach U18 finals – Tennis Nationals 2020
Chathurya Nilaweera ousted Thehan Wijemanne, his partner when he won the doubles, to secure a place in the Under-18 boys’ final of the ongoing Tennis Nationals 2020 at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Monday.
Nilaweera who partnered Wijemanne to win the Men’s Doubles title last week edged out the latter 7-6, 6-2 to reach the final.
Nilaweera, who also reached the semi finals in the men’s singles, will now meet Luca Knese who beat K. Vairavanathan in his semi. Knese scored 7-6, 6-1.
Meanwhile Savini Jayasuriya and Oneli Perera reached the finals in the Under-18 girls singles. Jayasuriya beat Dewmini Warnasuriya 6-2, 6-1 in her semi-final. Oneli Perera beat Sethmi Sumanaweera 6-2, 6-1 in her match.
Ganuka, Dinara win Under-12 titles
In the Under-12 age category Ganuka Fernando and Dinara de Silva clinched the singles titles.
Fernando who is hailing from St. Joseph’s College, Negombo scored 6-4, 6-1 to beat Abdul Cader in the boys singles final.
St. Bridget’s Convent player Dinara de Silva beat Dulkini Ranasinhe 6-3, 6-1 for her title.
