CEB November revenue increases by 2 billion

The revenue of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) for the month of November has increased by two billion rupees compared to October. The CEB’s revenue has increased since tariffs were increased on 09 August.

In October, the CEB’s revenue was Rs. 33.6 billion rand in November it increased to 35.6 billion.However, the CEB has to spend 35 billion on diesel and naphtha, and 38.4 billion on coal for the Month of January 2023.

Sri Lanka had to reduce its dependence on diesel, naphtha and coal to ensure that electricity costs would be sustainable, energy experts said.Sri Lanka has total electricity generating capacity of 40 GWH, as it mainly relies on thermal power.
