The new Cabinet of Ministers was sworn in yesterday before President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Temple Trees.The Cabinet, which operated under Wickremesinghe when he was Prime Minister, remains unchanged, except the removal of Prof. G. L. Peris as the Foreign Minister.

Ali Sabry, PC, has been made the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Prof. Peiris, who is also the SLPP Chairman, supported SLPP MP Dullas Alahapperuma’s candidacy for the President against Wickremesinghe.

The Cabinet ministers are as follows: PM Dinesh Gunawardena – Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government; Douglas Devananda – Minister of Fisheries; Susil Premajayantha – Minister of Education; Bandula Gunawardena – Minister of Transport, Highways and Media; Keheliya Rambukwella – Minister of Health and Water Supply;

Mahinda Amaraweera – Minister of Agriculture, Wildlife and Forest Conservation; Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe – Minister of Justice, Prisons and Constitutional Reforms; Harin Fernando – Minister of Tourism and Lands; Ramesh Pathirana – Minister of Industries and Plantation Industries; Prasanna Ranatunga – Minister of Urban Development and Housing; Ali Sabry, PC – Minister of Foreign Affairs; Vidura Wickramanayake – Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs; Kanchana Wijesekara – Minister of Power and Energy; Ahamed Nazeer – Minister of Environment; Roshan Ranasinghe – Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs and Irrigation; Manusha Nanayakkara – Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment; Tiran Alles – Minister of Public Security and Nalin Fernando – Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security.
