Bridge-Builder’s Despair
By Lynn Ockersz
This poet is not one,
To ‘spoil the party’,
For, ‘a man of the people’,
It seems, is at the Isle’s helm,
But those blessed with vision,
Could easily espy,
That North-South bridge-building,
Has hardly been touched,
For, minority group choices,
And those of the South,
Remain rather poles apart,
And this sad legacy,
Inherited from ‘Independence’,
Continues to bleed,
Like a gaping undressed gash.
