Aspiring female MPs enlightened on how to stay safe online, courtesy CaFFE and Carter Centre

The Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE), funded by the Carter Centre of the United States, on Monday (28) held a workshop for women candidates contesting the forthcoming parliamentary election on how they can stay safe online.
Dr. Gabrielle Bardall, Digital Hygiene and Safety Expert at the Carter Centre, enlightened 36 female contestants, including former members of Parliament, who attended the training session on digital hygiene and digital security. She said that ‘SMI’ (Share Minimum Information) online was the best way to prevent attracting unnecessary attention and reiterated on ways and means of handling online harassment.
The guest lecture was delivered by Saman Sri Rathnayake, the Commissioner General of Elections, while Claire Goldman Programme Associate of the Carter Centre’s Democracy Programme, Manjula Gajanayake, Manager of Carter Centre’s Sri Lanka project, Piumi Atigala Deputy Commissioner of Elections, Manas Makeen Executive Director of CaFFE, and Surangi Ariyawansa Director Administration CaFFE, addressed the gathering.
