Former State Minister and SJB Kurunegala District MP Ashok Abeysinghe yesterday said that he would not go to the CID headquarters to make a statement over the speech he had made on Easter Sunday attacks because he had to attend Parliament.

The CID had yesterday asked MP Abeysinghe to be present at its headquarters today (09) to make a statement over the speech he made on the Easter Sunday attacks, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

Six SLPP MPs have lodged complaints with the CID on Sunday to initiate an investigation into the statement made by Abeysinghe.

The spokesman said MP Abeysinghe had made the speech about the perpetrators of the Easter Sunday attack recently.

In addition, he is alleged to have mentioned the alleged funding sources that helped to carry out those attacks.

MPs Udayana Kirindigoda, Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon, Sanjeewa Edirimanne, Madhura Vithana, Jagath Kumara and Milan Jayathilaka have placed their signatures on the complaint.
