The traditional British tea experience dates back to the mid-19th century, with finger sandwiches and scones. The media was introduced to the classic English high tea buffe at Ahasa at ITC Ratnadipa. There was a simple but masterfully curated d menu, set 100 meters in the sky, with the hotel’s sweeping views of the glistening Indian ocean a press release said.
There were many delectable variety of food ranging from sandwiches, to cakes. The sandwiches are classic picnic favourites featuring cured Tuna in brown bed layered with fresh cream cheese, cucumber and cream cheese sandwich in tomato bread and Chicken ham & mustard sandwich on pumpkin seed-studded bread, just a sneak peek of the variety that will showcase on a rotational basis. Curated by the chef, the sandwich range is deliciously elevated and impeccably cut into finger-sized pieces.
The pastry options were endless with Lamb mince pies, which was a favourite of many.Hearty Chicken quiche, Prawn vol-au-vent and Crab cakes with lemon aioli to name a few from the varied selection, but made sure we had room for the dazzling finale – An array of patisserie cakes like the Battenberg, the dainty fresh mango tarts with vanilla cream, moist rich eggless chocolate cake and an English fruit cake, few of the many divine treats served at Ahasa.
No afternoon tea is complete without perfectly baked scones an a selected of unparalleled teas. Slather your toasty warm and fresh out of the oven scones with clotted cream and a liberal dollop of house-made preserves.
