All for the love of Sri Lanka…

Quite a few Sri Lankans are doing exceedingly well in Australia, especially in Melbourne, and I have even featured some of them in my pages.

This week, it’s Alex Cooray, whose name cropped up with the release of the Hollywood movie, ‘Night Walk.’ which has also brought a lot of success for Alston Koch’s son.

Frederick-James Koch has impressed many, with his vocals – singing the theme song, ‘I’m Runnin.’

Alex, I’m told, was involved in the movie, as an executive producer.

This go-getter is into many other projects, as well as funding charity events, with donations being made to the people in Sri Lanka, through his own foundation – Alexander Foundation for the Advancement of Women and Children Ltd., which, according to Alex, assist in various activities for the empowerment of women and advancement of children, in his land of birth.

Musical concerts play an integral part in his fund-raising, which has also benefited flood victims, ill-equipped schools, etc., in Sri Lanka.

Some of his other ventures, in Sri Lanka, include three teledramas, and one feature film, via his creative film production unit, Alexandra Media.

The productions won for him three local awards, with Alex himself receiving the best production award.

Alex migrated to Australia, in 1971, but not before making his presence felt in the local scene, where he has many achievements to his credit. He was also a Pilot Officer in the Airforce.

The enterprising Sri Lankan is now involved in many big scene business projects, in Melbourne, and is making headway as an enterprising business entrepreneur.

He has also set up a Special Residential Service for the Aged, in Melbourne, under the Victorian Government Charter.

Concerned about the present situation in Sri Lanka, Alex says his top priority now is to promote Sri Lanka Tourism, both in Australia and New Zealand.

“That’s going to be my next big venture.”
