A great healer steps into retirement

In the tapestry of life, where prosperity often illuminates one side,it is during times of adversity that we come to truly know ourselves. Amidst the shadows of illness,we discover who stands by us ,and it was in this journey that I encountered the unwavering support of specialist Dr. Anura Banagala.

Unfamiliar with the cause of my deteriorating health, I found solace in the compassionate heart of Dr. Anura Banagala. In 2016, battling fever and severe cough, I turned to Dr. Edee Talagala, a renewed physician in the Wethara, Polgasowita area. Acutely aware of my family history, he directed me to the expertise of Dr. Anura Banagala, a distinguished figure in Sri Lanka’s medical landscape, both locally and internationally.

Admitted to ward 23 at the National Hospital Colombo, my predicament deepened. The spectre of my father’s cancer-related demise haunted me, intensifying the challenge at hand. The colonoscopy revealed two ominous polyps in my right ascending colon, plugging me into a precipice of despair.

In this vulnerable moment, Dr Anura Banagala emerged as a beacon of reassurance. His consoling words, “I am here, don’t be afraid,” resonated like a lifeline, reigniting strength within me. The subsequent three-hour surgery, conducted with a team of dedicated professionals, showcased not only surgical prowess but an unwavering commitment to saving lives.

As Dr. Anura Banagala gracefully steps into retirement after years of tireless service, we bid farewell to a great era in Sri Lanka’s medical landscape.I  am profoundly grateful for his timely diagnosis and meticulous care, transforming what could have been a tragic tale into a narrative of healing and hope.

 Beyond my personal journey, I share these sentiments to underscore the profound impact of compassionate healers like Dr. Banagala. In a world filled with both negative and positive emotions, his legacy stands as a testament to the transformative power of dedicated medical professionals.

It is not too late to honour this genius Sri Lankan son, a true Jeevaka of our time, who has tirelessly striven to elevate healthcare services in Sri Lanka. Together with thousands of fellow patients, I extend heartfelt acknowledgment and gratitude to Dr. Anura Banagala, a beacon of healing in our nation.
