Landslide early warnings issued to the districts of Badulla, Kurunegala, Matale, Monaragala and Nuwara Eliya
The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the National Building Research Organization has issued landslide early warnings to the districts of Badulla, Kurunegala, Matale, Monaragala and Nuwara-Eliya Eliya for the next 24 hours effective from 1800 hrs on 4th October.
Accordingly, Level I landslide early warnings have been issued to the Divisional Secetaries divisions and surrounding areas of Haliela, Ella, Badulla and Passara in the Badulla district, Narammala in the Kurunegala district, Ukuwela and Rattota in the Matale district, Badalkumbura and Bible in the Monaragala district and Kotmale in the Nuwara-Eliya district.

Dambulla Sixers hand Galle Gallants first defeat in LPL 2026
Dambulla Sixers powered by an all-round performance from Marques Ackerman [2-27 and 35] and an unbeaten 64 off 37 balls from Reeza Hendricks handed the Galle Gallants their first defeat in LPL 2026. The match, the 8th game in LPL 2026 was played on Wednesday [22nd July] at Dambulla. The Gallants used nine bowlers but were unable to restraint the Dambulla batsmen who won with six wickets in hand 23 balls remaining.
