Due to the effect of the active southwest monsoon condition, showery condition is expected to enhance in the southwestern part of the island from today (10), with strong wind gust over the island and in the sea areas around the island.
The General public is requested to be attentive to future forecasts issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard.
Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Heavy showers about 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts. Several spells of showers may occur in the Northern province and in Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts while showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Badulla, Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the afternoon or night.
Strong winds of about 50 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-central, North-western and Southern provinces and in Trincomalee district.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

days,
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern, Central, North-central and Uva provinces and in Hambantota district. Fairly heavy showes about 75 mm are likely at some places in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale, Nuwara-Eliya and Polonnaruwa districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern province.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over Eastern slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee,
Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showery condition is expected to enhance in the Eastern, Northern and Uva provinces during the coming days, due to the development of a low-level atmospheric disturbance to the East of Sri Lanka.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern, Central, Northern, North-central and Uva provinces and in Hambantota district. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Central and Uva provinces and in Batticaloa and Ampara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in these areas. A few showers may occur in the coastal areas of the North-western and Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
