Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western Uva and Southern provinces during the afternoon or night.
Fairly heavy showers about 50mm can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology at 3.30 p.m. on 10 March 2026, valid for 11 March 2026.
The public are warned that the Heat index, the temperature felt on the human body is likely to increase up to ‘Caution level’ at
some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces and in Monaragala district.
The Heat Index Forecast is calculated by using relative humidity and maximum temperature and this is the condition that is felt on your body. This is not the forecast of maximum temperature. It is generated by the Department of Meteorology for the next day period and prepared by using global numerical weather prediction model data.

Effect of the heat index on human body is mentioned in the above table and it is prepared on the advice of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medical Services.
ACTION REQUIRED
Job sites: Stay hydrated and takes breaks in the shade as often as possible.
Indoors: Check up on the elderly and the sick.
Vehicles: Never leave children unattended.
Outdoors: Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.
Dress: Wear lightweight and white or light-colored clothing.

Issued at 05.30 a.m. on 10 March 2026 by the Department of Meteorology
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North-western provinces and in Anuradhapura, Mannar, Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.
A few showers are likely in the Northern province and in Trincomalee and Anuradhapura districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts after 2.00 pm. Mainly dry weather will prevail elsewhere over the island.
