Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Northern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other areas of the island during the evening or night.
Strong winds about (40-45)kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
Winds will be South-westerly in the sea areas around the island and wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (50-55) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Puttalam via Kankasanthurai and Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Puttalam via Kankasanthurai and Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil can be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be moderate. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
