President Wickremesinghe’s leadership praised by SLFP organizer as key to national stability
By Thushara Athapaththu
Had President Ranil Wickremesinghe not intervened to prevent Parliament from being set on fire and protected democracy, the country would have descended to a level lower than where Bangladesh stands today, SLFP Colombo District Organizer Chandrika de Soyza said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference in Maharagama, she stated that more than 35 parties and organizations have come out in support of the President. Additionally, over 112 MPs have expressed their backing for him. A group of 116 former Provincial Council members from the SLPP and the UNP have pledged their commitment to supporting President Wickremesinghe’s victory in the upcoming presidential election. With his extensive experience in Parliament and two years in the Presidency, there is no one comparable to him. People need to understand this and act thoughtfully, considering future generations.
The President has also worked to provide relief to the people by issuing land deeds and providing rice subsidies. Money is no longer being printed, and debt management has already been addressed. The Economic Transformation Bill has been introduced to Parliament. All these actions were taken for the benefit of the people. Therefore, she urged everyone to commit to supporting President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s victory.
