Several spells of showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere of the island during the evening or night. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in Eastern, Uva and Northern provinces.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly and wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (50-55) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota may be fairly rough at times.
Wave heights may increase (about 2.0 m) in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota (this is not for land area).
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts during the early hours of the morning.
A few showers may occur in coastal areas of the Western province and in Galle and Matara districts in the morning While showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya and Monaragala districts after 1.00 p.m.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

It is generated by the Department of Meteorology for the next day period and prepared by using global numerical weather prediction model data.

ACTION REQUIRED
Job sites: Stay hydrated and takes breaks in the shade as often as possible.
Indoors: Check up on the elderly and the sick.
Vehicles: Never leave children unattended.
Outdoors: Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.
Dress: Wear lightweight and white or light-colored clothing.
