Asia Corp Insurance Brokers Ltd forges reinsurance partnership with Sanasa Life Insurance

Asia Corp Insurance Brokers (Pvt.) Ltd., a premier insurance and reinsurance brokering company, recently formalized a pivotal reinsurance facilitator agreement with Sanasa Life Insurance Co. PLC during a ceremonious gathering held at the illustrious 80 Club Colombo. This momentous event was attended by key dignitaries from both organizations, underscoring the significance of this collaboration.

Among the notable attendees were Asia Corp’s Chairman, Mr. Sunil De Silva, and the Group Chairman of Ideal Group of Companies, Mr. Nalin Welgama, both of whom were instrumental in shaping this partnership. The event also saw the presence of the board of directors and a distinguished assembly of invitees from both Asia Corp Insurance Brokers and Sanasa Life Insurance Co. PLC.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Sunil De Silva and Mr. Nalin Welgama emphasized the critical role of reinsurance in the current landscape. They lauded Asia Corp’s technical team for their exceptional expertise, which enabled the formulation of an exceptional proportional reinsurance treaty arrangement. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it occurs at a time when many reinsurers have been withdrawing from the country due to the ongoing crisis situation in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Ivan Nicholas, CEO of Sanasa Life Insurance Co. PLC, also shared his thoughts during the event. He expressed his gratitude to the Asia Corp team for their exceptional efforts in facilitating this agreement. Mr. Nicholas underscored the importance of the reinsurance treaty arrangement and expressed his confidence in its potential to propel their company towards tapping into the corporate business sector. JMSDF ASAHI arrives at port of Colombo

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ASAHI arrived at the Port of Colombo on a replenishment visit this morning (01 Mar 25).

The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

JMSDF ASAHI is a 151m long destroyer commanded by Commander Shota TAKASHIRO. She is manned by a crew of 202.

During the stay in Colombo, crew members of the ship are expected to visit some tourist attractions in the city limits and the ship is scheduled to depart the island on 03 Mar 25.

CPC Chairman explains cause for fuel issue, but queues continue

D.J. Rajakaruna, Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), addressing the media explained that the current fuel issue was due to some fuel distributors disagreeing with the governments decision to introduce a new formula on which their commission will be based.

The CPC chairman said that there was no shortage of fuel. and that the Corporation has received 2924 fuel orders at that time and was in a position to accept more.

Nevertheless, some fuel stations were closed today [01] while there were long queues at the ones which were open.
