Showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island in the afternoon
Weather forecast issued at 05.30 a.m. on 16 October 2023 by the Department of Meteorology
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the morning.
A few showers may occur in coastal areas of the western and southern provinces during the morning and showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm can be expected at some places in Uva, Eastern, Northern and North-Central provinces.
Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be (20-30) kmph.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, the North-central, North-western and Southern provinces and in Trincomalee district.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

The rainy condition is expected to temporarily increase over the southwestern parts of the island from tonight (25 June) and during the next few days.
