Navy, police seize large haul of Kerala cannabis

The Navy and Police, in a joint operation, nabbed a suspect with over 227 kilos of Kerala cannabis, in Ponnani, Jaffna on Saturday (05). They also took into custody a lorry used to transport the narcotic drugs. The special operation was mounted by SLNS Agbo in the Northern Naval Command with the assistance of Vaddukoddai Police in Ponnani. In this operation, the naval and Police personnel searched a suspicious lorry on the road and recovered the stock of Kerala cannabis in it. The seized eight sacks containing 105 packets of Kerala cannabis weighing about 227.9 kilos.

The gross street value of seized Kerala cannabis was believed to be over Rs. 75 million, police said.The suspect, 31, is a resident of Bandarawela.The Vaddukoddai Police are conducting further investigations.
