Unfinished Krrish building poses threat to public – Minister

Published

on

Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has said that the unfinished Krrish building, and the adjoining work site in Fort, posed quite a serious threat to the public.

The warning was given recently at the Consultative Committee meeting of the Urban Development and Housing Ministry.

A statement issued by Parliament quoted the Chief Government Whip as having said that supporting structures could collapse due to strong winds whereas collection of rainwater there increased the threat of dengue. The meeting was told that the nearby hotels had complained of dengue threat due to the collection of water in the three storeyed underground section of the Krrish building.

Minister Ranatunga has directed the relevant officials to initiate discussions with the Krrish owner to reach consensus on recommencement of construction, failing which appropriate measures were to be taken. (SF)
