2972 underutilized or partially completed buildings owned by various government institutions to be utilized productively

The General Treasury has collected information from Divisional Secretariat divisions, with the support of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Council, and Local Government, regarding the buildings constructed by various government institutions that are currently abandoned, underutilized,
or partially completed and not being used for productive purposes.

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided that the relevant ministries and institutions should promptly prepare and implement a program for such buildings to be used for productive purposes after the President, in his capacity
as Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, submits a report inclusive of all details on the physical condition of the buildings which have been identifiedas underutilized and partially constructed.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution furnished bys the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs to extend Visas of those unable to leave Sri Lanka due to the
cancellation of flights to the Middle East from 28.02.2026 for another 14 days without any payments and re-extend the extended Visas for another 14 days without payments if the flights cancellations continue.
