21 A: Civil society grouping to hand their proposals to Sajith, Udaya

The March 12 Movement plans to hand over a set of constitutional proposals for consideration of political parties.

Top spokesperson for the grouping Rohana Hettiarachchi, yesterday (14) said that their proposals prepared in consultations with the clergy, professionals, trade unions and civil society groups would be handed over to Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa and Pivuthuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader Udaya Gammanpila today (15).

Hettiarachchi said that they examined altogether 31 proposals made by the Mahanayakes as well as those engaged in the Galle Face protest campaign before finalizing the document.

Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thera and several other senior representatives of the clergy would participate at the handing over of the proposals to lawmaker Premadasa at the Opposition Leader’s Office, No 30, Sir Macus Fernando Mawatha and MP Gammanpila at PHU office at No 448, Kotte road, Pitakotte.

Hettiarachchi said that they expected the government and the Opposition engaged in formulating the 21st Amendment to consider their proposals (SF)

Issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology
at 3.30 p.m. on 22 March 2026, valid for 23 March 2026.

The Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is likely to increase up to ‘Caution level’ at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces and in
Anuradhapura, Mannar and Vavuniya districts.

The Heat Index Forecast is calculated by using relative humidity and maximum temperature and this is the condition that is felt on your body. This is not the forecast of maximum temperature. It is generated by the Department of Meteorology for the next day period and prepared by using global numerical weather prediction model data.


Effect of the heat index on human body is mentioned in the above table and it is prepared on the advice of the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medical Services.

ACTION REQUIRED
Job sites: Stay hydrated and takes breaks in the shade as often as possible.
Indoors: Check up on the elderly and the sick.
Vehicles: Never leave children unattended.
Outdoors: Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.
Dress: Wear lightweight and white or light-colored clothing.
