The atmospheric conditions are getting favorable for afternoon thundershowers in most parts of the island from today (06).
Showers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Northern and North-western provinces and in Galle, Matara and Trincomalee districts during the morning while showers or thundershowers will occur at most places in the island during the afternoon or night.
Fairly heavy showers about 75mm are likely at some places in Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva province.
Winds will be South-westerly in the sea areas around the island and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to (45-50) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Hambanthota to Pottuvil.
The sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate while the sea areas off the coasts extending from Hambanthota to Pottuvil can be fairly rough at times. Strong usty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern and North-Central Provinces and in Puttalam and Trincomalee districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places in Northern Province. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Southern provinces during the evening or night.
Winds will be North-westerly or variable in direction in the sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph and wind speed can be increase up to 40 kmph in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Kankasanthurai and up to (45-50) kmph in the sea areas extending from Galle to Hambantota via Matara.
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Hambantota via Matara can be fairly rough at times. Other sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Winds will be North-westerly to Westerly in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota, and North-westerly or variable in direction in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be (20-30) kmph.
The sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.

Level I landslide early warnings have been issued to the divisional secretaries divisions and surrounding areas of Welimada and Haldumulla in the Badulla district, Elpitiya in the Galle district, Bulathsinhala in the Kalutara district, Yatinuwara and Udapalatha in the Kandy district, Warakapola and Yatiyanthota in the Kegalle district, Polgahawela in the Kurunegala district, Kotapola, Akuressa and Pasgoda in the Matara district and Pelmadulla, Elapatha, Balangoda, Imbulpe, Ayagama, Nivithigala, Kalawana, Openayake, Kiriella, Kahawattta and Godakawela in the Ratnapura district.
