Showers in Western, North-western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts

Showers will occur at times in Western, North-western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya,  Galle and Matara districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva and Eastern provinces and in Polonnaruwa district during the evening or night.

Winds will be south-westerly and speed will be (30-40) kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be rough at times while the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo, Galle and Matara will be fairly rough at times.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-western provinces while Several spells of showers may occur in the Northern province and in Anuradhapura district.

Heavy showers about 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts.

Strong winds of about (50-60) kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Northern, North-central, Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Southern provinces and in Trincomalee district.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds.
