Showers above 50mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Puttalam, Galle and Matara districts

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya and  Mannar  districts. Fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Puttalam, Galle and Matara  districts.

Winds will be south-westernly and speed will be (30-40) kmph. Fairly strong winds about (40-45) kmph can be expected at times in western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts. Wind speed may increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle while wind speed may increase up to (55-65) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai.

The sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai can be very rough at times while the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle can be rough.

Severa spells of showers will occur in Eastern and Uva provinces and in Polonnaruwa, Nuwara-Eliya and Matale districts.  Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces and in Kandy district after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm can be expected at some places.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
