Pedro National Scout Activity Centre renovated

Chief Commissioner Major Gen. Milinda Peiris handing over the keys of the Pedro Centre to National Training Commissioner Nanda Fernando, the Chief Custodian of the Training Centre.
The Pedro National Scout Activity Centre in Nuwara-Eliya renovated by the Navy was handed over to the Sri Lanka Scout Association recently in the presence of officials and Commissioners and other special invitees.
Merrille Goonetilleke, President of the Sri Lanka Scout Council, delivered the welcome address and explained the initiatives taken during his period as the Chief Commissioner for the renovation of the Pedro Camp and expressed his appreciation of all officials actively involved in the renovation of the Centre which has been a great task
The Chief Commissioner Major Gen. Milinda Peiris referred to the historical background of the Training Centre since the time of Brigadier C.P. Jayawardena.
The Chief Guest Mayor of Nuwara-Eliya Chandana Lal Karunaratne congratulated and appreciated the work done by the Scout Movement to produce useful citizens and expressed his great support.
The keys of the Centre were handed over by a Sri Lanka Navy officer to the President of Sri Lanka Scout Council, Chief Commissioner, Deputy Chief Commissioner and Chairman of the Committee of the council. The Chief Commissioner. Thereafter they handed over to the National Training Commissioner Nanda Fernando, the Chief Custodian of the Training Centre.
The Training Commissioner Nanda Fernando proposed the Vote of Thanks.

PNS ‘SHAHJAHAN’ arrives at port of Colombo on official visit

The Pakistan Naval Ship (PNS) ‘SHAHJAHAN’ arrived at the Port of Colombo on a formal visit this morning (02nd June 2023) and was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.
PNS ‘SHAHJAHAN’ is a 134.1 m long Frigate which is manned by a crew of 169 and is commanded by Captain ADNAN LAGHARI TI.
During the ship’s stay, the crew will take part in several programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Navy, with a view to promoting cooperation and goodwill between the two navies. They are also expected to visit some of the tourist attraction in the country.
PNS ‘SHAHJAHAN’ will depart the island on 04th June and is expected to engage in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with a Sri Lanka Navy ship off Colombo.
