Pakistan HC meets FCCISL officials

High Commissioner of Pakistan, Major General (R) Umar Farooq Burki, alongside Asmma Kamal, Trade & Investment Attache, held a meeting with the newly elected President of Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) Keerthi Gunawardane and Board of Directors.

The High Commissioner congratulated Gunawardane on his new appointment and reaffirmed his commitment to continue working closely with FCCISL and member trade bodies to further strengthen bilateral trade, joint ventures and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

A detailed discussion was held on various impediments to bilateral trade and formulating a strategy to overcome the same with joint efforts. Gunawardane appreciated Sri Lanka’s longstanding association and friendship with the business community of Pakistan and expressed the desire to further strengthen bilateral economic relations in the near future.

Cabinet approves 14 day Visa extension

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution furnished bys the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs to extend Visas of those unable to leave Sri Lanka due to the
cancellation of flights to the Middle East from 28.02.2026 for another 14 days without any payments and re-extend the extended Visas for another 14 days without payments if the flights cancellations continue.

The Cabinet of Ministers, taking into consideration the resolution furnished by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Council, and Local Government, have decided to appoint Anupama Mangala Wickramaarachchi, a special grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, who is serving as the Additional Commissioner General of Agrarian Development of the Department of the Agrarian Development at present, as the District Secretary , Ampara Administrative district with immediate effect.
