New bridge ready for opening (Highways Ministry pic)

Engineers last evening tested the lighting systems of the new bridge to be commissioned soon. Chief Government Whip and Highways Minister Johnston Fernando instructed his Ministry officials on 04 July to illuminate the bridge.

 In 2014 then President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Highway had initiated the New Kelani Bridge project and signed for the plans and the approval, Minister Fernando said.
