Minister of Justice, Prisons Affairs, and Constitutional Reforms, Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, on Friday (29) said that individuals affected by property damage during the ‘Yukthiya’ anti-narcotics and crimes operation can seek assistance from the Human Rights Commission or resort to the courts.

He said that police do not conduct house inspections arbitrarily. “Police typically raid a house when there is credible information about illegal activities or criminal involvement. While errors may occur, they are not commonplace,” Minister Rajapaskhe said

Rajapakshe acknowledged that the ‘Yukthiya’ operation, a large-scale endeavor, might cause inconvenience to people at times. Nevertheless, he emphasized that the operation aims for societal improvement.
