Mahinda home for lunch as Dharmapala face relegation scares

Mahinda College reduced Dharmapala to 71 runs in the second innings to romp to an innings and 152 runs victory in the Under 19 Division I Tier ‘B’ tournament match which ended before lunch at Galle on Wednesday.
The heavy defeat was Dharmapala’s seventh outright defeat of the tournament proper and now they will have to play relegation matches.
The day commenced with the visitors needing 223 runs in the second innings to avoid an innings defeat. Their resistance lasted only 23 overs as they were dismissed for 71 runs. Sri Lanka Under 19 cap Dinura Kalupahana was the pick of the bowlers taking five wickets for 35 runs.
The victory further confirmed Mahinda’s runner up position in group ‘X’ of the Tier ‘B’ tournament.
