Lanka Bell expands island wide footprint through Arpico Super Centre network
Lanka Bell, one of Sri Lanka’s leading telecom operators, has further expanded its footprint through the ‘Bell Store’ concept via the Arpico Super Centre network island wide. This initiative is part of its mission to provide innovative next generation Information Communication Technology solutions as well as convenience to its ever-growing customers across the country.
Under the ‘Bell Store’ concept, Lanka Bell currently has four such outlets at the Arpico Super Centres in Nawinna, Battaramulla, Malabe and Piliyandala. The expansion sees the opening of three more such outlets in Matara, Kandana and Wennappuwa.
Speaking on the recent expansion, Managing Director of Lanka Bell, Dr. Prasad Samarasinghe said, “The expansion of our Bell Store outlets further augments our mission to make even greater strides as a total ICT provider. Through our Bell Stores, we ensure that the latest innovative products and services are accessible to all and our presence is felt in every area – be it the city or the rural village. Sri Lanka deserves to be on par with internationally renowned standards in the digital and ITC landscape and it is our mission to fulfil that goal”.
This pioneering concept introduced by Lanka Bell enables customers to make all bill payments and reload facilities pertaining to Lanka Bell and other service providers such as Airtel, Dialog, Mobitel and Hutch. Customers can even obtain new connections from these operators as well as Dialog TV connections. In addition, customers can also gain access to a variety of Prolink products, such as UPS & mobile chargers.
Other consumer ICT products available at these outlets include a host of world class brands from Sonic such as mobile chargers, Bluetooth headsets, power banks, speakers and sound systems as well as Huawei consumer electronic items ranging from power banks, dongles, wingles, Ethernet over power extenders and mobile WiFi routers.

SEC renews partnership with the University of Jaffna to empower future capital market professionals
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Jaffna, strengthening its commitment to developing the next generation of capital market professionals.
The partnership with the University of Jaffna began in 2009, as part of the SEC’s broader initiative to collaborate with national universities in 2008. This has been instrumental in bridging academia and the capital markets industry. The latest renewal reinforces this collaboration, ensuring undergraduates continue to benefit from a robust platform for academic and professional growth.
The renewed MoU continues to offer a range of benefits to undergraduates, including academic recognitions such as gold medals and cash awards for excellence in capital market-related subjects, opportunities for research grants in the field, and enhanced industry exposure through internships and hands-on learning experiences facilitated by the SEC.
The revised MoU was formally signed with the participation of key representatives from the University and the SEC. Tushara Jayaratne, Deputy Director General of the SEC, represented the Commission, while University of Jaffna was represented by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sivakolundu Srisatkunarajah, Prof. N. Kengatharan, Dean of the faculty of Management Studies and Commerce and Prof. Lingesiya Kengatharan, Head of Department of Financial Management.
The SEC continues its mission to expand partnerships with other national universities, emphasizing its dedication to creating professional opportunities for students across the country. Through initiatives like these, the SEC aims to inspire a new generation of forward-thinking professionals, fostering academic excellence and driving innovation in Sri Lanka’s capital market.
