Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces in the morning.
Showers will occur at times in Southern, Eastern, North Central and Uva provinces and in Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Matale, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Mannar districts. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m. Heavy showers about 100 mm are likely at some places in Southern, Uva, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Eastern provinces.
Winds will be North-easterly and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to (40-50) kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil can be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate but temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
