Fairly heavy showers likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces

Several spells of showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province in the evening or night.

Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be (30-40) kmph. Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monaragala districts.

Wind speed may increase up to (60-70) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Kalpitiya via Kankasanthurai and Mannar and in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil. Wind speed may increase up to 60 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coasts extending from Pottuvil to Batticaloa.

The sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil can be very rough at times and from Pottuvil to Batticaloa can be rough at times. The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle can be fairly rough at times. Strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. Naval and fishing communities are requested to be attentive in this regard.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva and Eastern provinces and in Mullaittivu district during the afternoon or night.

Fairly strong winds of about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Southern province.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
