Employers urged to minimise workers’ movement across districts: Gen. Silva

Many Grama Niladari divisions and police areas remain isolated
The Head, National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, yesterday urged employers to minimise the movement of their employees across districts.
General Silva said that Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration had urged employers to encourage work from home and make do with skeleton staff.
The Army Commander added that movment restrictions had been lifted in 83 Grama Niladari Divisions, which had been closed down due to spikes in COVID-19.
“Five police areas remain isolated. Thus, 102 Grama Niladari Divisions in Matale police area, 41 in Dambulla police area, 46 in Naula police area, 59 from Galewela police area and 63 in Pannala police area have been isolated.”
Another 173 Grama Niladari Divisions in 53 police areas too had been isolated, General Silva said.

Landslide Early Warnings issued to Kandy, Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya Districts extended

The landslide early warnings issued by the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) to the Kandy, Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya districts have been extended till 1600 hrs today (10).
Level I landslide early warnings have been issued to the Divisional Secretaries Divisions of Pasbage Korale in the Kandy District, Yatiyanthota and Deraniyagala in the Kegalle District and Ambagamuwa in the Nuwara Eliya District.

Mangrove planting initiative takes root in Southeastern Naval Command

Coinciding with the World Oceans Day, the Sri Lanka Navy on 08th June 2023 launched a mangrove planting initiative in the lagoon area of Panama in the Southeastern Naval Command.
The event was held under the patronage of Deputy Area Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Commodore Ruwan Rupasena. The World Oceans Day of this year was celebrated on the theme ‘Planet Ocean: Tides are Changing’.
