Dr. Zameer Careem to speak on history of Bharatha Community at BCF annual sessions

Dr. Zameer Careem, a medical doctor as well as a historian and a guest lecturer in Sri Lankan and in foreign universities is scheduled to deliver the main oration at the annual sessions of Sri Lanka Bharatha Cultural Fellowship (BCF) at the Sasakawa Centre at 22nd Lane (Bala Tampoe Road) Kollupitiya at 10 am today (24).
The organizers said that Dr Careem would dwell comprehensively on the origin and growth of the Bharatha Community in India and its extension to Sri Lanka. The presentation precedes the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of BCF.
Dr. Careem’s academic involvement covers “Universitas Indonesia”, “Marmara University”, Istanbul, Turkey and “Yidrm Beyat University”, Aukara Turkey.
He has presented several papers on the history, heritage and issues confronting minorities in Sri Lanka’s ethnic groups on international platforms. The event is open for all and for further details could be obtained by contacting Francis D’Almeida (0775417277) or Albertine Peries (0773047163).

Cabinet nod to celebrate centenary of Tea Research Institute from 9th November to 14th November 2025

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Facilities to hold the 26th Session of the Intergovernmental Group on Tea of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the 4th Annual Meeting of the Asian Tea Alliance to commemorate the Centenary Anniversary of the Tea Research Institute in Colombo from 9th November to 14th November in 2025 and to take necessary steps in that respect.
