Death of Senior Journalist Yogarani Thevathasan,

The death occurred in Colombo on Sunday of Yogarani Thevathasan, 94, who had a long career at Lake House in the sixties and seventies working as a sub-editor and feature writer in both the Ceylon Observer and the Ceylon Daily News.
A graduate of the University of Ceylon, following her emigration to Britain with her husband, Dr. Victor Thevathasan, and two children, she also worked for Thomson Regional Newspapers in Wales. He career in active journalism spanned a period of 40 years.
An attractive bubbling personality, she used to often keep her colleagues in the old Ceylon Observer in fits of laughter with her talent for telling a good story.
In addition to her regular work as a sub-editor she also wrote the occasional feature demonstrating both her flair for writing and keen eye for colour that made her stories interesting and readable,. Her book, Ink On My Fingers was published in 2004.
Yogarani’s husband predeceased her some years ago, She leaves a son and a daughter, both doctors practicing in the UK, Pravin Thevathasan and Nandika Doble and six grandchildren. She lived the last years of her life in Sri Lanka.

The two delegations also explored opportunities in trade, particularly the importation of palm oil and the introduction of organic liquid fertilizers to support Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector.
Collaboration in the IT industry was highlighted as another promising area of partnership, alongside discussions on integrating electric vehicles into Sri Lanka’s public transport system.
The Sri Lankan delegation, led by Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister, Mrs. Sagarika Boghawatta, included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Indonesian delegation was represented by Deputy Ambassador . Fiki Oktanioand Minister Counsellor Mrs. Lailal K. Yuniarti.
